The Beautiful Islands of New Zealand are found in the South Pacific far from any other land. Being so remote, New Zealand was one of the last places settled by humans. Its diverse lands of steep mountain ranges, sandy beaches, rugged coastlines, fiords and rolling hills arose from two colliding tectonic plates under the Island. Maori legend tells that the North Island, shaped like a large stingray was fished up by Maui in his 'waka' (Maori for canoe). The South Island was the canoe!
Hi Yvonne, I know exactly what you mean. I loved my two visits to New Zealand in 2003 and again in '05. I could have stayed there. I stayed in Auckland and Wellington and visited several places in-between. I lived near London at the time. I had a job back then. I want to go back again (ideally after i win the lotto!). I want to visit South Island next time! Enjoy the rest of your time there. Donal, Co Cork.
